Partnership in the Western Districts

At The Gathering incorporating the Annual Assembly, we heard from the Partnership Teams on what’s been happening in their space towards our shared Gen1K Goal.

During 2024 each region promoted strategic partnerships between leaders, churches, regions and the Association teams to support the ministry and mission of the local church in their communities.

The Western Districts region:

  • Launched a new regional internship as a partnership between the Western Districts regional team, local churches, Morling College student and the Association. The aim is to raise leaders in the west for the west. Pavel Melnichuk was its first participant. Pavel was completing his theological degree while serving and learning as a ministry intern in 4 western districts churches, for 3 months each. This was funded by the local churches and subsidised by regional funds.
  • Partnered with the Riverina Region hosting the third annual pastors and families gathering at Ridgecrest to offer mutual support, encouragement and equipping to pastors and their families.
  • Planned an inaugural regional conference which will be held in 2025 at Orange Baptist called Common Ground. It is a partnership between the churches, regional team and Association Team members to provide encouragement, challenge and equipping to people from across churches in the region
  • Planned for a new model of ministry for the regional minister who, rather than mainly serving in one church 4 days a week and as regional minister for 1 day a week, will be released to move between churches to best meet the needs of a variety of churches, some without pastors, across the large distances in the region. This is funded in partnership with the local churches, regional funds and Association resources.
