Youth Pastors Conference 2017

It is such a thrill to see how a God is growing the younger generation of pastors and leaders in across our Baptist movement. The bond to friendship, the willingness to share with one another, the desire to support and encourage, as well as uphold one another in prayer is truely magnificent.
We gathered from Moree in the north and Ulladulla in the south. From The Shire and The Hills. The Hunter and the Central Coast. From Bathurst and Taree. Grafton. Tamworth. Wagga Wagga and everywhere in between. There were those of us who have been around for a while, Pastors just getting started, as well as a host of volunteers. This community is growing and it’s exciting to be part of.
We focused our time around the theme of trust with James Ramsay from Mosiac Baptist in the ACT opening us the Scriptures each morning to look at the nature of God. Peter Stone from Arrow Leadership helped us explore the significance of trust in ministry and how to develop it, before clinical psychologist Louise Ramsay facilitated a session on the nature of trust in relationships.
It strikes me that our world is crying out for people who can be trusted, and for us who know the Lord Jesus, we need to ensure this one of the ways that people describe us – trustworthy in our skills and in our characters.
One of the major take homes for me personally was the reminder that trust is learnt through thousands of repetitive experience that demonstrate that we are ok, that we are safe and that we belong no matter what we are feeling at any point in time. I long for this in my own life, in the lives of my children, my marriage, our church, in the area where we live, in our Baptist family and throughout God’s world.
In addition to our formal times of input on the theme of trust we were also led by a number of Baptist Youth Ministries Executive in practical workshops on a variety of aspects of youth and young adult ministry. A big thank you to Noel and Lynette Wraight from Springwood, Luke Bartlett from Narwee, Phill Pallas from Narara Valley, Nath Sami from Hughes and Luke Montgomery from Dural for facilitating these.
I must admit we are certainly a rowdy bunch who know how to have a good time. But we are also a humble community who are seeking to do ministry together and see God grow His church.

Thank you for praying for our youth pastors conference, our speakers and our attendees. Our God is good and He answered. Please continue to uphold the youth and young adult ministries from across our movement.
May we always remember that our God is trustworthy and may He lead us in continuing to develop communities of trust so that many can come to know Him.
